How To Choose The Right Seal

The conventional method is to put the seal on the pagoda and measure the outer diameter with vernier calipers, and then determine its corresponding size. The disadvantages of this method are:
(1) the seal is an elastomer, the outer diameter measurement is not accurate;
(2) in the design of new tools, there is often no ready-made seal, it is difficult to determine the size, the interference amount is often inaccurate. When the interference is too large, the seal is easily damaged by shear, too small and easy to lose the seal.
Sealing mechanism of the seal ring.
Seal ring seal belongs to the extruded elastomer seal, is dependent on the seal ring is squeezed in advance by the elastic deformation to produce pre-tightening force, while the working medium pressure also squeezes the seal ring, so that it produces self-tightening force. In other words, the extruded elastomer seal belongs to the self-tightening seal.
Suggestions for selecting and matching seals.
(1) The size and shape of the seal ring groove should be designed in a standardized manner, not at will.
(2) In order to ensure that the seal works effectively in the long term, the compression rate (or interference amount), tension amount and hole shaft fit accuracy must be reasonably selected.
