The Reasons For The Failure Of The Oil Seal Seal Ring
Jun 10, 2022
The reasons for the failure of the oil seal seal ring are as follows:
1. The pressure inside the box is too high
Under normal circumstances, the oil seal seal can withstand an internal pressure of 1kg. If the pressure in the box is excessively increased, exceeding the pressure-bearing capacity of the oil seal sealing circle, the leakage will increase significantly. For example, crankcase ventilation, transmission and rear axle housing ventilation holes are blocked, and the oil pump body leaks seriously, all of which will become the cause of failure. When the abnormality occurs in the above places, the following phenomena will also occur. The screws passing through the inner cavity of the box and the paper pads between the joint surfaces will also leak oil.
2. Oil seals are divided into low-speed and high-speed
Replacing the high-speed type with a low-speed type will greatly reduce the service life. The low-speed type is suitable for linear speed V<6/s, and the high-speed type is suitable for V=4-12m/s. Oil seals are selected, and the light size is suitable. You should also check the performance description and confirm. Is the model correct.
3. Shaft loose
The looseness of the shaft pump will be suitable for the eccentricity of the journal, which will cause the sealing lip edge of the oil seal to bear a large load difference along the circumference, causing early wear.
4. The journal is rough and the finish is too low
The smoothness of the journal should not be lower than 7-8, otherwise the sealing lip of the oil seal will wear quickly.
5. When the oil seal sealing ring is installed in the base, because it is not pressed in with a suitable pressing tool, it is knocked in by a hard hammer. As a result, the oil seal sealing ring body is skewed and the skeleton is deformed, and the sealing lip is in the space. The correct position is out of alignment.
6. The grinding hole of the oil seal ring is not concentric with the journal ring
The misalignment will result in uneven radial pressure distribution of the sealing lip of the oil seal, which will also lead to the same consequences. For example, the crankshaft front oil seal of some models of engines has no positioning device on the front storage surface of the cylinder block as the timing cover as the oil seal base. Large mismatches.
7. The oil seal sealing ring is missing or knocked off during assembly
For some models, if the oil seal of the half shaft and the rear oil seal of the crankshaft are not carefully installed, not only the spring will fall off, but also the body will be deformed. Therefore, it has to be re-installed, which is a lot of work.
8. The sealing lip of the oil seal and the surface of the journal are provided with lubricating grease during assembly. Since there is no artificial oil film, the oil seal is in a worn state once it starts to work. Dry wear will generate high temperature, which is easy to make the lip and the rubber adhere to the journal.
