How much do you know about the quality requirements of fluorine rubber seals

Nov 02, 2021

Understand the market demand for fluorine rubber seals, as well as the wholesale and price quotations of seals. How much do you know about the quality and use of fluorine rubber seals? How to distinguish the quality of fluorine rubber seals?

Fluorine rubber(FKM) seals

A ring composed of one or more elements is fixed on a gasket of the bearing and forms a gap with another sealing gasket to prevent the leakage of lubricating oil and the intrusion of foreign objects. The fluororubber seal is a seal made of a copolymer of vinyl fluoride and hexafluoropropylene. Usually used in high temperature, high vacuum and high pressure environments, but also suitable for oil environments, widely used in petroleum, chemical, aviation, aerospace and other sectors.

Other types of rubber mainly include: silicone seals, fluorine rubber(FKM) seals, and nitrile rubber (NBR)seals.

Viton seals-features

The fluorine rubber material is a copolymer of vinyl fluoride and hexafluoropropylene. According to its molecular structure and fluorine content, the chemical resistance and low temperature resistance of fluorine rubber are also different. The fluorine rubber body is based on its excellent flame retardancy, permeability resistance, compression deformation resistance, high temperature resistance, Performance advantages of ozone, weather resistance, oxidation resistance, mineral oil (hydraulic oil) and organic solvents and chemicals.

The operating temperature range under static sealing should be limited to about -20℃ to 200℃. Although it can be used in a short time at 200℃, the service life of rubber and fluororubber seals will be shortened when the temperature exceeds 250℃. The suitable temperature for the dynamic seal is between -10℃ and 200℃, and the low temperature can reach -20℃.
