What are the functional characteristics of the dust ring of hydraulic equipment

The main function of the dust-proof ring is to remove dust, sand, rain, frost and other dirt attached to the outer surface of the cylinder by the reciprocating piston rod, and to prevent external dust and rain from entering the inside of the sealing mechanism. A good dust ring should have a sharp lip structure and a low coefficient of friction. This can prevent outside dust from entering the system, and at the same time reduce equipment wear.
Secondly, the dust ring also has an auxiliary sealing function, and its inner lip scrapes off the oil film adhering to the surface of the piston rod, thereby improving the sealing effect. The dust ring can remove any dust on the surface of the piston rod without damaging the oil film on the piston rod, and it is also good for the lubrication of the seal. When the dust ring is designed, it must not only adapt to the piston rod, but also play a sealing role in the trench.
Dynamic function: a high-hardness, elastic and effective dust-proof ring, the contact force of its lip relative to the piston rod must be large enough. Polyurethane is a material especially suitable for dust-proof rings. It has high characteristic hardness, excellent wear resistance and low compressibility.
Static function: The non-reinforced single-acting dustproof ring designed for closed installation grooves is difficult to play an effective sealing role in the groove. This is because the dustproof ring is loosely installed in the groove. Only the contact between the sealing lip and the piston rod provides the sealing force between the dust ring and the cylindrical surface. When the temperature drops, the dust ring shrinks, and there will be leakage between its outer diameter and the groove. In this case, it must be compensated in the dust ring specification design.
