Description
External Pressure Face Spring Energized Seals are commonly used in static sealing applications. External face seals are typically used to remove environmental media from exposed joints, hinge points, or fittings. Designed for high pressure and high temperature, low-temperature fluids, extreme media, and other applications that exceed the performance characteristics of O-rings and traditional elastic seals. Face Seals are designed for either internal or external pressure, but not both.
For this external pressure design, the open sealed cavity faces outward. Generally, the gland design of the face seal is the same as the O-ring. When designing the seal gland, the typical extrusion gap is 0, but it can be as high as 0.003” without affecting the performance of the seal. This External Pressure Face Spring Energized Seal is equipped with a V-shaped spring as standard.
