Difference Between Star Seal Ring And O-ring

Nov 29, 2022

1. Differences in interface structure

The section of star seal ring is star shaped, also called X shape. O-ring interface is O-ring, also called circular ring.

2. Differences in cost

The manufacturing cost of star shaped sealing ring is high, resulting in high use cost. The O-ring was invented early, has a wide range of applications, and has low use cost.

3. Use the difference in working speed.

The applicable ambient speed of star seal ring is: reciprocating motion: ≤ 0.5m/s. Rotating motion: ≤ 2m/s

The applicable ambient speed of O-ring is: reciprocating motion: ≤ 0.5m/s. Rotating motion: ≤ 2m/s

4. Differences in the use environment.

The star seal ring has no mold line, while the O-ring mold line is relatively obvious, so the star seal ring can be used not only in liquid media, but also in gas seals, and the O-ring is more suitable for liquid media seals.

5. Differences in specifications, dimensions and standards.

The star seal ring is applicable to the standard size of AS568 series, with limited specifications.
