How To Select Proper Sealing Ring For Hydraulic Cylinder?

❂ The first step to success

Understanding the role of lubrication is the first step in achieving a successful seal in a dynamic system. A fully lubricated system will have oil film leakage, but at the same time it will reduce friction, thereby reducing seal wear accordingly. On the contrary, in the system lacking lubrication, the oil film decreases, but the friction and wear increase accordingly.

❂ The second step of success

With the increase of fluid pressure, the sealing performance tends to be perfect. As the system pressure on the sealing surface compresses the seal axially, the seal is pressed into the groove more closely, making the seal fit more closely with the metal surface of the groove. If the seal is designed correctly, the sealing force and efficiency will increase as the system pressure increases.

❂ The third step of success

Extrusion resistance of seals is the third key factor. The seals in the dynamic system must be able to resist the shear force caused by the pressure difference between the pressure side and the non pressure side of the seals. The shear force will push the seal into the gap between the metal surfaces of adjacent grooves, and the material and geometry of the seal must be strong enough to resist damage.
