How To Distinguish Between Hydraulic Seals And Mechanical Seals?

Mar 23, 2022

Basic applications of mechanical and hydraulic seals:

1. The mechanical seal ring is one of the mechanical basic components with a relatively complex structure, and is a key component of various pumps, reaction synthesis kettles, turbo compressors, submersible motors and other equipment.

2. Hydraulic sealing ring is a self-sealing compression type hydraulic sealing ring, which is mainly used in a kind of radial seal (dynamic seal) of hydraulic cylinder, piston, etc.

The difference between the mechanical seal and the hydraulic seal is in the sealing material. The material of the mechanical seal is metal, while the material of the hydraulic seal is rubber.

Mechanical seals generally have no pressure requirements, and are metal hard seals, which seal the liquid to be sealed by rotating between several sealing rings;

Hydraulic seals have pressure requirements, and the joint surface is required to have a certain smoothness. The sealing elements are mostly made of rubber, and the sealing effect is achieved through the local deformation of the sealing ring.
