Introduction To The Characteristics Of Gasket Seals

May 13, 2022

Any type of gasket seal product has the following important characteristics in order to ensure long-term sealing in harsh environments:

1. Gas tightness of gasket seals

For the sealing medium of the sealing system, the gasket works under the specified temperature and pressure environment and will not leak for a certain period of time.

2. Compressibility of gasket seals

After the connection bolts are fastened, the contact surface of the gasket and the flange needs to be well matched to ensure the sealing effect.

3. Creep resistance of gasket seals

Under the influence of pressure load and operating temperature, the creep resistance of the gasket should be relatively good, otherwise it will cause the loss of bolt torque, resulting in the reduction of the surface pressure of the gasket, resulting in leakage of the sealing system.

4. The chemical corrosion resistance of gasket seals

The selected gasket products should not be corroded by chemical media, and should not pollute the sealing medium.

5. Resilience of gasket seals

Even when the system is stable, the two connected flanges will definitely have small displacements due to the influence of temperature and pressure. The elastic characteristics of the gasket product should be able to compensate for these small displacements to ensure the tightness of the system.

6. Anti-adhesion of gasket seals

The gasket should be easily removed from the flange after use and not bonded to the flange.

7. Non-corrosiveness of gasket seals

Gaskets should be non-corrosive to the flange surface of the connection

8. Temperature resistance of gasket seals

The selected gasket should ensure normal use under the low temperature and high temperature of the system.
