What Is A Non-contact Mechanical Seal?

Jan 21, 2022

The non-contact mechanical seal ring refers to a mechanical seal ring that is filled with a complete fluid

film between the sealing end faces due to the action of hydrostatic pressure or dynamic pressure to

force the sealing end faces to separate from each other without rigid solid-phase contact. With the rapid development of the industry, the working conditions of the sealing ring tend to be high temperature,

high speed, high pressure, etc. In actual operation, sealing failure will inevitably occur. In order to meet

the requirements of high-parameter sealing and extend the life of the mechanical sealing ring, People

hope to achieve the goal by studying the mechanism of the sealing ring, thereby improving the sealing

structure and developing the material of the sealing ring.

Among them, it is one of the effective ways to realize the long-life operation of the mechanical seal ring

by grooving the end face of the seal to obtain the lubrication condition between the end faces. It has

become a high-tech sealing technology in the field of mechanical seal rings today. The design of the

non-contact mechanical seal flow groove can be divided into two major categories: one is shallow

groove, whose groove depth is on the order of microns; the other is deep groove, whose groove depth is on the order of millimeters. Two typical deep grooves and shallow grooves are realized, with a view to

further research and improvement.
