PTFE - The King of Plastics

Aug 04, 2022

PTFE is currently the most used variety of fluoroplastics, accounting for about 60% of its total demand. It has excellent performance and is trusted by users. The application of other fluoroplastics in semiconductor, medical, wire coating and other fields is also expanding. The use of fluoroplastics can be summarized as follows: 1. Using its chemical resistance, the application of plastics in chemical resistance has long been not limited to the manufacture of sealing rings, gaskets, and pipe fittings, but also in other parts that require corrosion resistance (such as pipes) The use of stars is also increasing. With the advancement of raw materials and processing technology, the molding method of fluoroplastics has expanded the range of factory choices: if injection molding is used, production efficiency can be greatly improved, and cutting processing technology, PTFE bonding and welding technology can be used in small batch production. The development of FEP makes it possible to manufacture large tank and equipment liners, and the FEP powder coating process makes processing more flexible and convenient. In the process of semiconductor production, fluoroplastics have been used more for anti-corrosion and anti-pollution. 2. In the field of machinery industry, the friction coefficient of PTFE is small, and its static friction coefficient is lower than the dynamic friction coefficient. Specific applications include: (1) Bearing bushings for anti-pollution machinery (such as textile, paper, pharmaceutical, and food machinery);

(2) Machinery for conveying non-lubricating liquids such as alkalis and solvents (such as mixers, dyeing machines, pumps);

(3) Bushings that work in corrosive environments such as acid and alkali (such as electroplating bath chemical equipment);

(4) No oil lubrication (such as oxygen production equipment);

(5) Oil lubrication (such as ultra-low temperature refrigerators, liquid fuel pumps);

(6) Sliding parts that work in an environment with poor oil lubrication effect (high temperature dryer, furnace table, conveyor belt in furnace);

(7) Sliding member (movable support) under low speed and high load conditions.

3. Electrical field Fluoroplastics are flame retardant materials. The critical oxygen index is high and corrosive, and can be used as an insulating layer for wires.

ETFElPvDF has high insulation resistance and dielectric strength, and excellent mechanical strength. qT is used for computer and communication cable. Utilizing its weather resistance, radiation resistance and other characteristics, it can be used for small cables in oil wells and nuclear reactors. Taking advantage of its low relative dielectric constant and low dielectric loss at high frequency, it can be used in communication equipment and high-frequency electrical equipment. Mixing PTFE with conductive substances such as carbon black and carbon fiber can be used as antistatic material and heating element material. PvDF can also be made into piezoelectric elements for radio and instrumentation industries.

4. Non-stick The non-stick properties of fluoroplastics can be used to manufacture kitchen equipment (such as non-stick pans, snack molds), exterior wall coatings for advanced buildings, foam molding molds, copier rollers, etc. In addition, it is also widely used in medical geotechnical engineering materials such as artificial blood vessels and heart valves, gas separation membranes, waterproof and breathable composite fabrics, etc.

Teflon board features:

High temperature resistance - working temperature up to 250 ℃.

Low temperature resistance - good mechanical toughness; 5% elongation can be maintained even when the temperature drops to -196°C. Corrosion resistance - inert to most chemicals and solvents, strong acid and alkali resistance, water and various organic solvents.

Weather Resistant - Has the best aging life of any plastic.

High Lubrication - The lowest coefficient of friction among solid materials.

Non-stick - is the smallest surface tension in a solid material that does not stick to anything.

Non-toxic - It is physiologically inert, and it has no adverse reactions when it is implanted in the body as an artificial blood vessel and an organ for a long time.

Color standard: The color is white polytetrafluoroethylene, which is a synthetic polymer material that uses fluorine to replace all hydrogen atoms in polyethylene. This material has the characteristics of acid and alkali resistance and resistance to various organic solvents, and is almost insoluble in all solvents. At the same time, PTFE has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, and its friction coefficient is extremely low, so it can be used for lubrication, and it has also become an ideal coating for the inner layer of easy-to-clean wok and water pipes.
