Valve Seals: Globe Valve And Sealing Ring
Feb 22, 2022
Seals, also known as sealing rings (gaskets), etc., involve a wide range of industries, ranging from the electronics industry, the automotive industry, the small household appliance industry, the digital product industry (mobile phone industry, etc.), to the national military-specific Seals, shipbuilding, aviation, super-large construction machinery industry, etc. We may touch seals (gaskets) everywhere in our lives. Just like the shower head in our water heater, there is a small sealing gasket, which mainly plays the role of sealing the water (if you don't have it, your water heater will not be able to heat up). In addition, the mobile phones we use also use sealing gaskets. Without the sealing gaskets, a lot of dust will run into the inside of your mobile phone. So small seals play a pivotal role in our lives.
Globe valve, also known as cut-off valve, is a mandatory sealing valve, so when the valve is closed, pressure must be applied to the valve disc to force the sealing surface not to leak.
The opening and closing parts of the globe valve are plug-shaped discs, the sealing surface is flat or conical, and the disc moves linearly along the center line of the fluid. The movement form of the valve stem includes a lift rod type (the valve stem rises and falls, and the handwheel does not rise and fall), and there is also a lift rotary rod type (the handwheel and the valve stem rotate and lift, and the nut is arranged on the valve body). The globe valve is only suitable for fully open and fully closed, no adjustment and throttling are allowed. The globe valve is a forced sealing valve, so when the valve is closed, pressure must be applied to the valve disc to force the sealing surface not to leak. When the medium enters the valve from under the valve disc, the resistance that the operating force needs to overcome is the friction force between the valve stem and the packing and the thrust generated by the pressure of the medium. The force to close the valve is greater than the force to open the valve, so the diameter of the valve stem should be large, otherwise the failure of the top of the valve stem will occur.
